Hi everyone--
I've read two books over the last few years, both of which convinced me of how important it is to acknowledge all of our blessings. I often start the year out on a roll but then, well, you know..... So I'm glad to have a community within which to flex my gratitude muscles; I think it will help in addition to being more fun! As for the two books that inspired me, you may know the first: Sarah Breathnach's Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy. I was really struck by how unwaveringly clear Breathnach is about the importance of keeping a gratitude journal. After she lays out all the benefits of giving thanks, she concludes, "If you want to travel this journey with me, the gratitude journal is not an option." (January 14) You gotta admire conviction like that!
The second book is by Regena Thomashauser (AKA Mama Gena): Mama Gena's School of Womanly Arts. Mama Gena is all about women finding pleasure in their lives and how to find support in the Sister Goddess community of women. (This isn't a new-fangled religion; it's just her way of reminding us that we are all FABULOUS!) One of the essential "tools" that Mama Gena says we can't do without is acknowledging the good in our lives; acknowledgment makes room for even more! These are two of my favorite books and I recommend them highly! Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
